In August, Siegel & Strain Architects, along with others, received a 2020 ONEder Grant from One Workplace to develop our 2Build or Not 2Build Carbon Calculator. The tool will make it possible for architects, building owners and policy makers to quickly calculate and compare the embodied, operating and avoided carbon emissions of new buildings vs. reusing, upgrading and electrifying existing buildings. Siegel & Strain Architects is collaborating with Erin McDade of Architecture 2030 and Lori Ferriss of Goody Clancy. We will be working on including more building and renovation categories, collecting and evaluating embodied and operating emissions data and embodied carbon benchmarking studies.
